John Welter and his NEW 1968 Turbo Firebird

This Bird’s got looks that KILL!
John Welter’s got himself a new hot rod and we have a sneaky feeling he’s getting ready to mix up the Elite 10 list a little….

John Welters 1968 Turbo Firebird

He IS BACK………… John Welter has been quietly getting his new 1968 Firebird ready to fly!  The body was done by McCamis and the chassis was welded up by Chris Duncan.  Travis Quillen of Quillen Motorsports Engineering has performed all of the carbon, tin, and titanium work.   John had Rodney Butler of Butler Performance build him a 454 cid Pontiac engine with Edelbrock Wide Ports.   This fire breathing bird has a 118mm turbo by Precision Turbo that will run on injected alcohol and it is all managed by a FAST XFI system with sixteen 160 lb/hr injectors supplemented by four mechanical nozzles in the charge tube.  The transmission is aBruno/Lenco 3 speed with Bruno modifications by QME.  The car also uses a PTC bolt together torque converter.  We look forward to seeing this car make some full passes and doing some damage on “The List”!
